Now, I know we all remember watching “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” with our parents as kids. And watching the little orange and green Oompa Loompas sing about how Agustus was a greedy little boy and got exactly what he deserved.

Well, you know what? Agustus wasn’t really smart enough to know what was wrong, in my opinion. Anyone who can eat like him needs a 24-hour medical staff. So people open your eyes! If you’re sitting on the bus and spilling over into the next seat then it’s time to get up and exercise. No teen should have to worry...

About two weeks ago I did a series of posts about surviving high school, but I didn’t really say anything about safety. So I just want to you know tell you a couple of rules that I think every teen should try and practice, even if my suggestions sound stupid.

Here goes:

1....

Monopoly Double standards in general are unfair, but particularly to minors that have been convicted as an adult and they can’t even have adult rights.

I mean I know I’m only 15, but it just doesn’t seem right that a 17-year-old has the same rights as me but can’t get the benefits of actually having a life when they get out of prison. They’ve already suffered enough having to share a cell and community bathroom with psychopathic adults.

Illinois is one of 12 states in the country that prosecute 17-year-olds as if they were adults. With their lives not even being half over, these teens become...

Okay, sure, if you don’t do well on your report card, your mom is going to go off like a bomb during The Blitz (that's a reference to Nazi Germany's bombing of downtown London and other parts of Great Britain during World War II for the few that are failing British History).

Anyway, as I was saying, in high school everything revolves around your GPA (Grade Point Average) because that’s how colleges determine if you’re good enough to get in their school (along with standardized tests like the ACT and SAT). Also, with a lot of high schools, teachers don’t want the students to get in the habit...

Okay students, it’s time for auditions in the role of “shrill girl screamer.” High school can sometimes make you want to scream like Esther in this video from the movie “Orphan.” (It’s probably one of the scariest movies EVER!) Even though screaming feels like the best idea when you get stressed out, it isn’t always enough. Just check out freaky Esther in this movie clip, and yes she got the part for best shrill girl scream!

Stress is one of the hardest parts about high school, and the best...

Just like many TV shows, you'll notice that the brainless head cheerleader and the half-Neanderthal quarterback are treated like heroes in high school. They're more like undercover dictators of the student body. I mean they really control the entire social aspect of high school.

Usually, they think that since they can get anything they want they find that everyone under them doesn't really need their attention, mostly because they get intelligence and popularity confused. Now, high school is like one big heirarchy! It goes something like this:

  1. King and Queen (aka head...

I don’t expect a lot of guys to know about Tim Gunn, but he co-hosts the show “Project Runway” with Heidi Klum. And one of his most famous quotes is, “Make it Work!” because designers are given limited time to fashion a look on a budget based on the challenge.

In high school, you’re faced with many challenges, but one challenge that is the most important to over come is your work. Your GPA (Grade Point Average) determines what kind of college you can go to (and at some schools, if...

Deep breath people. You’re about to be faced with one of the most important steps in a teen's life … High School!

Now, it’s time for some tips that are going to save you from drowning in academic and social suicide. I’m going to go through stress, homework, types of teachers, grades, studying, friends, and project partners. This information can be used for all four years of high school, but it’s mainly for new freshmen and incoming students.

Okay, now in middle school you probably had the same teacher all day and switched for your gym, art, music, and drama classes. But in high school,...

What’s more important for you to listen to, your wallet or your body?

We all face this question everyday, and usually you listen to your wallet since it’s in charge of what is available to you that day. All day, everyday you run from class to class just waiting for lunch and then you have to decide, which way are you going to go? Are you going to buy lunch off campus since you have that kind of privilege? Are you going to just get lunch in the cafeteria (which isn’t as inexpensive as you wish)? Or are you going to skip lunch all together and wait until you get home? Now, I know none of these options really sound very appealing, but many teens don’t have the choice because they don’t think ahead. However, when you think ahead you should consider these little fun facts. They speak for themselves!
  • The daily recommended count of calories...

Well, I just read an article about healthy eating and saw how adults might actually think that all teens are vain. Shocking, I know. Anyway, the article advised parents to tell their teens the kind of stuff they’d tell younger kids like: if they drink lots of milk, they could be as tall as giants. Then, as teenagers, they’d say if we get lots of iron in our diets then we’ll ace our physics test and be able to stay up all night. The stories were ALL lies, but they’re pushing us in the right direction.

Let’s look at the facts, shall we? You know how on Thanksgiving the little kids break the turkey’s wish bone, but, in the wild, turkeys fight each other and no one breaks a thing. Well that’s because the turkey in the wild is still eating his nutrients and is able to get away from the farmer’s yard, while the other just eats fatty foods and walks right up to the chopping block, thus becoming the holiday meal. So, I don’t know about all of you out there but I...
