School-to-Prison Pipeline.There’s been an increase in the number of young people who are in the juvenile delinquency system because of relatively minor school discipline issues. Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin is to have a hearing Wednesday on what officials are calling the school-to-prison pipeline.

Housing History. Each Wednesday in December, the National Public Housing Museum is sharing the story of a musician who grew up in public housing. This week, Art Alexakis, from the band Everclear, will have his story of growing up in public housing in Los Angeles.

More Pressure on Durbin. The government’s "fiscal cliff" is threatening to cut funding for programs like food stamps and college aid if legislators don't come to an agreement by the end of the year. Unions and community groups will have a rally Monday to ask Durbin and to keep Medicaid and Medicare off the negotiating table.

CTA Budget Hearing. Reactions to a planned CTA fare hike and Mayor Rahm Emanuel's advice that if Chicagoans don't want to pay they fare they can choose to "drive to work" have included anger, disbelief and a satirical Twitter account. A group of activists who work on issues affecting low-income communities will have a protest at CTA's Monday evening meeting.
