The Chicago Reporter is committed to protecting your privacy. Our web site, www.chicagoreporter.com is a general audience web site, intended for users of all ages. Personal information of all users is collected, used and disclosed as described in this Statement of Privacy.

The information we gather from users
The only personally identifiable information we collect is what you supply us through online registration or order forms. This includes your name, e-mail address, street address, telephone number and some demographic information, such as affiliation, special interests, location, gender and income. Our web server, however, automatically collects certain information regarding your visit, including IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring web site addresses. We use this general information only for traffic statistics and similar internal purposes. E-mail addresses are not collected by our web server.

How we use the information gathered
We may use your information for marketing of our own products to you or for sending messages on behalf of our affiliates, including the Community Renewal Society and Catalyst Chicago. We may also occasionally do so for outside organizations, but we never share personal information with other organizations for commercial or any other purpose.

We may contract outside companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as handling the processing and delivery of mailings, providing customer support, processing transactions, or performing statistical analysis of our services. We will provide those companies only the personal information they need to deliver the service. Visit Chicago Public Radio to listen to the segment.Apr 21Reporter Jeff Kelly Lowenstein and Managing Editor Rui Kaneya were named finalists in the 19th annual Herman Kogan media awards sponsored by The Chicago Bar Association for “Missed Signals,” which chronicled the lawsuits against police officers involved in fatal shootings. The winner will be announced at a May 8 luncheon.Apr 28The Reporter captured the Chicago Headline Club’s 2008 Watchdog Award for Excellence in Public Interest Reporting for “Missed Signals.” The honor was delivered at the conclusion of the 31st annual Peter Lisagor Awards for Exemplary Journalism on April 25.

The Reporter was also honored with Peter Lisagor Awards for Exemplary Journalism for its “business reporting” and in-depth reporting.
