The Chicago Reporter

Methodology (A Renter's Nightmare)

The Chicago Reporter analyzed foreclosure data from 2000 to 2007 compiled by the National Training and Information Center to determine how many two- to six-unit apartment buildings in Cook County were repossessed by mortgagees after foreclosure in 2006 and 2007. In addition, the Reporter surveyed 11 Cook County housing attorneys to determine whether mortgagees were following Illinois law when seeking to clear tenants out of those buildings.
