Color by communities

Between 1960 and 2000, Chicago lost more than 1.8 million whites and gained more than 240,000 blacks and 700,000 Latinos. As many whites moved out, blacks and Latinos moved in, changing the racial composition in dozens of communities.

Note: Communities were designated as black, Latino or white, if they were at least 66.6 percent black, Latino or white. All other communities were designated as mixed.
