Get on the Bus

Evanston-Skokie School District 65 would be hard-pressed to integrate its schools without busing and school attendance areas that stretch across several neighborhoods, since most of the city is not sufficiently racially mixed. There are no elementary schools located in Evanston’s mostly-black 5th Ward, where nearly half of the elementary school students are bused to schools in other neighborhoods. Most of those bused to non-magnet schools are sent to one of the four schools in Evanston’s mostly-white wards on the city’s north side.
