History in the Making?
Barack Obama pulled off an even more wide-ranging victory in March’s Democratic primary than Carol Moseley-Braun did in the 1992 Democratic primary. Obama gained a greater share of votes from black wards in Chicago and every other major geographic area in Illinois than Moseley-Braun did. And, while black voters in Chicaog came to the polls at a higher rate in Moseley-Braun’s primary victory, black voter turnout exceeded that of whites in Obama’s win.
