Loan Decision
Posted On: September 26, 2007Originally published as part of the January, 2005 Issue Among mortgage applicants for owner-occupied homes in 2003, blacks were most likely to be denied by lenders, turn down approved loans and withdraw their applications. As a result, a majority of the more than 13,000 African Americans applying for such loans were unsuccessful.
Notes: Lenders did not render decisions on loan applications that were withdrawn or incomplete. The data include applications submitted by individuals seeking loans for single-family homes or condominiums, where they intended to live.
