Population Boom
Chicago’s Latino population increased 79 percent between 1980 and 2000, and Cook County’s surged 115 percent. Latinos have also moved in large numbers to the area’s five collar counties, which all saw their Hispanic populations more than double over the last decade.
Aug 8The Chicago Reporter’s Fernando Diaz has been awarded the 2008 Emerging Journalist of the Year from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
