Otter: This looks easy

Under Attack

Civilian attacks on police officers have increased dramatically since 2000, especially in mostly black police districts. But officers of all races have been attacked at rates that roughly mirror their numbers on the force.

Notes: Demographic figures for Chicago police officers are based on 2002 data. All 2003 figures are projections based on actual figures for the first nine months of that year. Police districts where one racial group makes up more than 50 percent of its total population are designated as “Black,” “White,” or “Latino.” Districts where there is no racial majority are designated as “Mixed.” Percentages may not total 100 percent due to rounding. Race of attackers refers only to individuals whose race was known by police.
