April, 2000 Students at the all-boys Hales Franciscan High School, 4930 S. Cottage Grove Ave., are fighting–"and beating–"the odds. In the last four years, all of the school's graduates have been admitted to college. But statistics show that black men and boys in Chicago are more likely than any other group to drop out of high school, get arrested, spend time in jail or prison–"or be victims of homicides.
