6134 S. Kimbark Ave.

Despite decades of federal subsidies, the courtyard building at 6134 S. Kimbark Ave. has fallen deep into disrepair because of poor management. In late November, the city filed two lawsuits against the owner for heating problems. Since 2008, the city has initiated eight additional legal cases concerning the cluster of buildings, which is anchored by the Kimbark building. Photos by Marc Monaghan.
