The Fund for Teachers has awarded $153,162 to 36 CPS teachers who plan
to spend the summer traveling in the U.S. and abroad to learn new
skills to bring back to their classrooms and schools. The 36 teachers
are among 375 across the country who will receive individual grants of
up to $5,000 for summer sabbaticals through the Fund for Teachers.
The Fund for Teachers has awarded $153,162 to 36 CPS teachers who plan to spend the summer traveling in the U.S. and abroad to learn new skills to bring back to their classrooms and schools. The 36 teachers are among 375 across the country who will receive individual grants of up to $5,000 for summer sabbaticals through the Fund for Teachers. Chicago’s program is conducted in partnership with the Chicago Foundation for Education. Among the winning CPS proposals: intensive Spanish language study in Madrid, studying the educational benefits of yoga in India and volunteering in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania to study issues of social justice. Since the program began eight years ago, the Fund for Teachers has awarded over $12 million to almost 3,500 teachers across the country. Here is a list of CPS winners and their sabbatical projects.
