Lachlan Tidmarsh is CPS’ new Chief Information Office. He will be responsible for overseeing the Office of Information and Technical Services. Previously, Tidmarsh was a vice president at Aon Corporation and responsible for managing Aon’s global initiatives and planning team. He was also chief of staff to Aon’s global chief technology officer, director of the company’s Global Financial System and chief of staff to the chief technology officer. Before that he served as a human resource manager at Accenture (formerly Anderson Consulting) and a foreign exchange settlements officer at the Bankers Trust Australia in Sydney.
Robert Boik has been named Chief of Staff to CPS CEO Jean Claude Brizard. He succeeds Andrea Saenz. Previously, Boik was responsible for carrying out the policy agenda of the head of the Detroit school system and negotiating the district’s collective bargaining agreements. He also led an effort to bring Teach for America members back to the Detroit Public Schools after a long absence and served as chief of staff to the state superintendent of education in Washington, D.C.
Mike Rendina is CPS’s new Chief Public and Community Engagement Officer, succeeding Jamiko Rose, who resigned earlier this month after seven months of service. Rendina’s responsibilities will include not only outreach to parents and the community, but also to public officials, since elected officials often speak on behalf of parents, say CPS officials. Previously, Rendina served as CPSs’ director of intergovernmental affairs and was responsible for managing the district’s relations with local, state and national officials.
Phillip Hampton has been named Executive Director of Family and Community Engagement and will be responsible for developing specific plans and processes to improve community outreach. Seven years ago, Hampton was the director of community relations at CPS, when the office was first established. He has also been the director of Chicago’s 311 City Services and the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) Program.
Tara Malone, formerly an education reporter with the Chicago Tribune, is now a senior policy associate at Advance Illinois. Malone says she will use her background as a state education reporter to support the organization’s work on everything from school improvement efforts to the Common Core implementation and education budget analysis.
