Medill School of Journalism / Northwestern University
Our deepest partnership: the Investigative Journalism Hub contributed multiple student reporters; a Media Law and Government Transparency practicum placed a student through April; a Health and Science practicum placed a full-time student for the summer; and a documentary video collaboration paired TCR with Medill’s Documenting Justice course. A Medill data journalism intern joined in June 2026.
Harry S. Truman College — Uptown Exchange
A formalized cross-publishing partnership brought student journalism into TCR’s pages under editorial oversight, with a shared partnership-criteria framework.
Chicago Reader
Co-publishing partner on our IDOC health care investigation, including a print-edition placement.
Till Institute
Launched our first-ever fellowship program on April 8, 2026, welcoming two investigative journalism fellows from Ireland and the United States.
Injustice Watch & Prison Writers Project
New co-publishing discussions are underway with Injustice Watch on Department of Corrections investigations, and with the Prison Writers Project to showcase the work of currently and formerly incarcerated writers.
Fox 32 & Local News Accelerator
Fox 32 served as emcee and promotional partner for our signature fundraising event, and TCR was accepted into the national Local News Accelerator cohort, a recognition that connects our newsroom to peers, funders and best practices across the local news field.
Public Narrative & Online News Association
Individual staff development partnerships this year included a Health and Science Reporting Fellowship (Public Narrative) and a scholarship covering ONA conference membership and attendance, both awarded to Investigative Editor Katie Schulder-Battis.
