Chicago schools, public and nonpublic
combined, will have an extra $76 million to spend this school
year under the 2002 reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary
Education Act, called No Child Left Behind. Funding will rise
to $318.8 million, from $243 million, or 31 percent, according
to CPS budgets for 2001-02 and 2002-03. The following are major
