US school segregation is higher than it has been in decades, even if there are no longer overt laws requiring racially segregated schools.

Her research interests focus on racial desegregation and inequality in K-12 schools, and the connections between school segregation and other metropolitan policies. Dr. Frankenberg directs a civil rights and education center at Penn State.
