Fuzz Hogan, former Chicago bureau chief for CNN, is now the communications director for Advance Illinois, a new statewide policy advocacy organization that has a board of heavy hitters but promises to gather widespread input. Jim Edgar, former governor of Illinois, and William Daley, chairman of the Midwest region of JPMorgan Chase & Co., are co-chairs of the group. The other board members are: Ellen Alberding, president of the Joyce Foundation; James Bell, president and CFO of the Boeing Company; Lew Collens, law professor and president emeritus at Illinois Institute of Technology; Miguel del Valle, city clerk of Chicago and former chair of the Illinois Senate Education Committee; John Edwardson, chairman, president and CEO of CDW Corporation; Joseph Fatheree, Illinois Teacher of the Year 2006-2007 at Effingham High School; Dennis Hastert, former speaker of the House and Illinois State Representative; Timothy Knowles, director of the Urban Education Institute at the University of Chicago; Sylvia Puente, director of the Center for Metropolitan Chicago Initiatives at the University of Notre Dame Institute for Latino Studies; Charles Rose, founding partner of Franczek Radelet & Rose; Edward Rust, Jr., chairman and CEO of State Farm Insurance Co.; and Patricia Watkins, executive director of TARGET Area Development Corporation.
