Perspectives Charter is nearing the end of its search for a new chief executive officer and hopes to have the position filled by mid-July in time for the coming school year, says Chief Operating Officer John Hayner. Hayner, Chief Education Officer Kim Dixon and President Diana Shulla-Cose have been sharing the CEO’s duties since January 2008, when then-CEO Rodney Joslin passed away. The search began informally about eight months ago, when Perspectives staff members pulled together a list of potential candidates from their own networks. This past January, the search was expanded nationwide. Hayner says that a short list of final candidates will be confirmed by the end of this month, when intensive interviews will begin. The CEO will be responsible for strategic planning and development, building strong relationships with funders and acting as a spokesperson for the Board of Directors. “This is selecting the leader for our next round of development,” Hayner says. Perspectives operates five charter schools in Chicago.
