The Little Village Community Development Organization has changed its name to Enlace, which is Spanish for “link.” The old name tied the organization to one community and didn’t accurately reflect the aims of the organization, explains Enlace’s director of education, Katya Nuques. “Holistic development doesn’t have to just do with brick and mortar,” said Nuques. “We try to create linkages between schools, people and resources.” The development corporation got into the education business in 2000 and backed the parent hunger strike that led to the construction of a long-promised new high school in its community.
